Terms of service
Plain-English terms for using Jen. By creating an account you agree to them.
Last updated 6 September 2026
Who we are
Hiya Jen is provided by Hiya Jen Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales, and operated by JSM Forum Websites. In these terms, “we” and “Jen” mean Hiya Jen Ltd, and “you” means the person using the service.
What Jen is — and isn’t
Jen helps you with everyday admin: explaining letters, spotting likely scams, drafting correspondence, setting reminders and keeping track of lists and renewals. Jen gives general guidance in plain English.
Jen is not a solicitor, doctor, accountant or financial adviser. Nothing Jen tells you is professional legal, medical, tax or financial advice. For anything that genuinely needs a professional, please speak to one — for example Citizens Advice, your GP, or a regulated adviser.
Using your account
- You must be 18 or over and resident in the UK.
- You sign in with a magic link sent to your email. Keep access to that email address secure — anyone who can open the link can use your account.
- Use Jen only for lawful, personal life-admin purposes. Don’t use it to break the law, to harass anyone, or to try to disrupt the service.
Free trial and subscription
- New accounts get 14 days of full access free. No card is needed to start the trial.
- After the trial, Jen costs £9.99 per month or £99 per year. Your subscription renews automatically until you cancel.
- You can cancel at any time from the billing portal in your settings. Cancelling stops the next payment; you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- We don’t give refunds for part-used periods, but this does not affect your legal rights as a consumer.
- If a payment fails, we retry it for about a week before access is paused. Reminders you have already scheduled continue to be sent.
- If we change the price, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before it applies to you.
Accuracy and your responsibility
Jen’s answers are generated by AI and can occasionally be wrong or incomplete. Always check anything important — dates, amounts, deadlines, reference numbers, phone numbers and legal entitlements — before you rely on it or send it to someone. You are responsible for what you choose to send or do with Jen’s help.
Content
You keep ownership of what you put into Jen and what Jen produces for you (such as a letter). You give us permission to process that content only as far as we need to in order to run the service. The Jen name, brand and software remain ours.
Availability
We work to keep Jen running smoothly but we can’t promise it will always be available or error-free. We may add, change or remove features over time. If we ever discontinue the service, we will give you reasonable notice and a refund of any period paid for but not used.
Our liability
We don’t exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can’t be limited by law. Otherwise, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or unforeseeable losses.
Ending your account
You can close your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms or is used unlawfully.
Changes to these terms
If we make a material change to these terms we will email you before it takes effect. Continuing to use Jen after that means you accept the updated terms.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England & Wales, and disputes may be brought in the courts of England & Wales.
